A Calming Lakeside Lodge

It's been a while since my last post and in the interim it has been hectic with the holidays. Now that they are over and 2014 is here, I am once again making an effort to de-stress my life as best I can.  My new year's resolution is to actually try to stick to my new year's resolution, best summed up with this:

I recently ran across this lakeside lodge, featured in At Home in Arkansas and love the calming and peaceful interiors.  I can't imagine feeling stressed in this house!  The family wanted a home that was "comfortable, approachable and not too decorated" and designer Heather Chadduck set out to do just that!  I love the soft color palette of green, gray, white and pale blue as well as the soft paint colors by Sherwin Williams.  Take a look at the photos below, the guest house is my favorite!!!

HGTV's Dream Home 2014

HGTV just revealed its 2014 Dream Home!  Located in Lake Tahoe, this modern mountain home has much to offer its lucky winner.  I love the architecture, open floor plan and, of course, all the Ethan Allen furnishings!! The interiors feature many of my Ethan Allen favorites. Can you spot the Parker chair, Meyer coffee table, Barrett bed and Corrine chairs?? Check out the living room and dining room......I love all the windows and the drama the black paint (Sherwin Williams Black Fox SW 7020) adds to the space! Beach House

I had the pleasure of working with the nicest couple who recently purchase a second home in Beach Haven, NJ.  When we began our collaboration, the clients had already selected Benjamin Moore Jute for the wall color.  It was perfect for the beach, a warm neutral would work as a great backdrop to the colors we selected.  The Ethan Allen furniture in shades of beige and yellow for the living room and white and blue for the family room, is reminiscent of the sand, sun and sea!  It all came together so nicely and I am sure they will enjoy many happy years in their new summer retreat.  A big thanks to my clients for sharing their fun project.

Benjamin Moore Favorites

I am thinking of painting my living room before the holidays.  It's been Oriental Silk (a retired Benjamin Moore color) for years now but it's time for a change.  I recommend paint colors all the time, so why am I having trouble deciding for myself?  Too many favorites, I guess.
