Benjamin Moore 2014 Color Trends

Where has the time gone!  I haven't posted a thing since August, somehow I missed the entire month of September!!  I can't believe there are only 3 months left in the year and 2014 is right around the corner........OMGoodness......who can think about 2014!  Well it turns out Benjamin Moore has given it some thought and has recently released its 2014 Color Trends. The color palette, dubbed "the 'new' neutrals" consists of 23 soothing colors.  So what's the latest color trend?  According to Ellen O'Neill, Creative Director of Benjamin Moore & Co.

"We've begun to see a shift away from gray to tints of blues, greens, lavenders and pinks."

My immediate reaction after reading this was..."what, no gray!?!  But looking at the color palette I notice many colors I often use. These softer shades of color have a gray or brown base that makes them quiet, something I refer to as "quite color". Quiet colors are easy to live with, even the highly saturated colors are calming.

I thought I'd share my recent find.....I spotted this on Houzz and am in love with this Minneapolis home!  I'd love to have this space for entertaining, the open floor plan is just perfect! The rest of the house, designed by Great Neighborhood Homesis just as spectacular. To see more pictures of the interiors, click here.

Ashley Whittaker

I love this New York city foyer designed by Ashley Whittaker.  There's nothing like a bold, large scale printed wallpaper to liven up a space!  The room was recently featured in House Beautiful.  Apparently Ashley is no stranger to the magazine, her beautifully design rooms often grace the pages of the magazine.  After checking out her website and perusing her portfolio, I must say, I am a fan!  Take a peek below of some of her designs, and of course to see her complete portfolio, click here.

Southern Living Idea House 2013

If summer travels have you anywhere near Nashville, you should make a point to visit the former home of country artist, Barbara Mandrell, home to this year's Southern Living Magazine's 2013 Idea House. The interiors of this beautiful southern farmhouse were designed by Phoebe Howard.  The showhouse, located just outside Nashville is open for tours from now until December. If you are like me and can't make it to Nashville, you can take a peek of the interiors below:

Caitlin Wilson

I've been following Caitlin Wilson for a while now and I must say I am a hugh fan of her fabrics! Her bedroom was recently featured in House Beautiful.  I love the coral and pink print on her headboard, it  pops against her walls that are painted in Benjamin Moore Classic Gray.  The night stands are from Ikea.  I love her ingenuity!  Caitlin painted them in Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray and added new hardware.   The textile designer/decorator has a fabulous website too, be sure to click on the link below to check it out.

Memories of the beach

Years ago we would head south every summer to South Carolina and spend a week in Seabrook. The island is right next door to Kiawah Island. This magical place is just 30 minutes southwest of one of my favorite cities of all time, Charleston. SC! I have so many fond memories of my girls, just babies then, enjoying themselves at the beach.  It's been a few years since we were there but after seeing pictures of this gorgeous beach house in Kiawah, I am dying to go back soon!  The house, designed by the Anderson Studio of Architecture and Design was recently featured on HOUZZ.  The house is stunning both inside and out and it's gorgeously furnished in a calming color palette too....just what you'd want in a beach house!
